PM Modi Hands Over 51,000 Job Letters, Says Youth Power Driving Vision of Viksit Bharat
At Rozgar Mela, PM hails India’s demographic dividend, manufacturing push, and pro-youth schemes as engines of employment and equality
New Delhi, July 12:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited youth across various government departments under the Rozgar Mela initiative. Addressing the recruits via video conferencing, the Prime Minister called it the beginning of a new responsibility and underscored the guiding motto of "Citizen First" for all public servants.
PM Modi emphasized that India today commands two limitless strengths — demography and democracy — the world’s largest youth population and its biggest democratic system. “Our youth are not only our biggest asset but also the greatest guarantee of India’s prosperous future,” he said.
Referring to his recent five-nation visit, the Prime Minister noted that the strength and global appeal of India’s youth were evident everywhere. Agreements signed in key sectors like defence, pharma, digital tech, and rare earth minerals, he said, would open massive employment opportunities both within and outside India.
Highlighting the changing nature of jobs in the 21st century, PM Modi stressed the role of startups, innovation, and research in powering youth aspirations. He also announced the Employment Linked Incentive Scheme, under which the government will contribute ₹15,000 towards the first salary of private sector employees, aiming to generate 3.5 crore jobs with a ₹1 lakh crore budget.
Reaffirming India's emergence as a global manufacturing hub, the Prime Minister said the sector is creating lakhs of jobs through initiatives like Make in India and the PLI scheme, which alone has generated 11 lakh jobs. Electronics manufacturing has crossed ₹11 lakh crore, and India now hosts nearly 300 mobile manufacturing units, up from just a handful a decade ago.
India, he noted, has also become the world’s largest locomotive manufacturer, with strong export performance in rail and metro coaches. The auto sector alone attracted $40 billion in FDI over five years, further boosting jobs and demand.
PM Modi cited ILO data, confirming over 90 crore Indians brought under welfare schemes in the past decade, many of which directly generated employment. From PM Awas Yojana and Ujjwala to Surya Ghar, Drone Didi, and Lakhpati Didi, government schemes are empowering rural communities and creating sustainable livelihoods.
Calling it a Mahayagya of development, the PM urged new recruits to treat citizens with devotion and become active partners in building a Viksit Bharat. “You are not just employees — you are nation-builders,” he said.
