New Delhi | February 16:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the India AI Impact Expo 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, marking a major milestone in India’s journey towards becoming a global leader in artificial intelligence.
Addressing innovators, researchers, startups, and technology leaders, the Prime Minister said that India’s growing strength in AI reflects the extraordinary potential of Indian talent and innovation. He emphasized that the country’s AI-driven progress would not only transform domestic governance and industry but also contribute to global development.
“Being among innovators, researchers and tech enthusiasts gives a glimpse of the extraordinary potential of AI, Indian talent and innovation. Together, we will shape solutions not just for India but for the world,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X.
Held from February 16 to 20 alongside the India AI Impact Summit, the Expo serves as a national showcase of artificial intelligence in action—where policy meets practice and innovation meets scale. Spread across 10 arenas over 70,000 square metres, the event brings together global technology firms, startups, academic institutions, research bodies, and representatives from central and state governments.
One of the highlights of the Expo is the participation of 13 country pavilions, representing Australia, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Serbia, Estonia, Tajikistan, and Africa, underlining India’s growing role in international AI collaboration.
The Expo hosts over 300 curated exhibition pavilions and live demonstrations, organised around three thematic “chakras”—People, Planet, and Progress—reflecting India’s emphasis on inclusive, sustainable, and development-oriented use of technology.
More than 600 high-potential startups are showcasing working AI solutions already deployed in real-world environments, ranging from healthcare and education to agriculture, governance, and climate management. These innovations aim to address population-scale challenges and strengthen India’s digital public infrastructure.
With over 500 sessions and more than 3,250 speakers and panelists, the five-day event is facilitating wide-ranging discussions on the ethical, economic, and social dimensions of artificial intelligence. The deliberations focus on ensuring that AI remains people-centric and benefits every section of society.
The Expo is expected to attract over 2.5 lakh visitors, including international delegates, investors, and policymakers. It is also poised to generate new partnerships and business opportunities within the global AI ecosystem.
By hosting one of the world’s largest AI-focused platforms, India is reinforcing its commitment to responsible innovation and digital leadership. The India AI Impact Expo 2026 stands as a powerful symbol of the country’s ambition to shape the future of technology for national progress and global good.
